Self Made Flyer: GO GREEN, STOP DEFORESTATION!!

Solutions to Deforestation

There are many easy ways to solve deforestation. It takes only a few steps to solve deforestation at home, office and shop. Here are something you can do to offset the effects of deforestation:

1. Plant a tree.

2. Go paperless.

3. Recycle.

4. Eat vegetarian meals frequently.

5. Look for Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification woods products.

Effects of Deforestation

1. Soil erosion destruction : Soil dries up as they are exposed directly to the sunlight cause trees are not there to cover them. Erosion occurs during rainy season as rain washes down the soil surfaces and tree roots are unable to hold the soil as most of the trees have been felled down.

2. Water recycle : Trees are capable to ground the water in their roots and release it into atmosphere. When forests are destroyed, the atmosphere and water recycle are all affected. Trees absorbs and stores water in its roots. Eventually, the recycle process will be broken and the atmosphere and water bodies start to dry up.

3. Climate Change : Trees absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere and release oxygen into atmosphere. When forests are felled down, more CO2 will remain in the atmosphere which eventually caused the climate to become hotter.

4. Loss of Biodiversity : More than 70% of animals and plants are living in the forests. Many of animals and plants are losing their habitats due to deforestation which significantly lead to the species extinction.

The causes of Deforestation

1. Agriculture activities : This is one of the major factors that causes deforestation. It is because there are many trees being felled down to grow chops and graze cattle.

2. Logging : Due to the facts that many wood based industries need a huge amount of wood supply and wood is also used as fuel, many trees are being felled down for the wood supplies.  Some of these industries are also chopping down wood and cutting down trees illegally.

3. Urbanization : Some trees are felled down just to make spaces for the provisional road as some of the main roads are undergoing maintenance.  Forest land is reclaimed to make rooms for more housing and settlements due to overpopulation.

4. Fires : Huge amount of trees are lost due to the forest fires in different portions in the world every year. Fires caused by man or nature results in huge loss of forest cover.

Facts of Deforestation

 1. Forests cover 30% of the earth's land.

 2. The estimations show that within 100 years there will be no rainforests.

 3. In every second, one and a half acres of forest is cut down.

 4. The rate of deforestation equals to the loss of 20 football fields every minute.

 5. There are more than 121 natural remedies in the rain forests which can be used as medicines.

 6. The Amazon forest produces 20% of the world's oxygen.

 7. It is estimated that up to 28,000 species of animal will be extincted by the next quarter of century due to deforestation.

 8. The total world of forest loss till date is 7.3 million hectares per year.

 9. Trees play important roles in ecosystems by absorbing the carbon.

10. Half of the world's tropical forest has been cleared.
